Leiber and Stoller have been writing songs together for over fifty years. Not content to be confined to one musical style, they have created enduring classics in a variety of genres including Rhythm & Blues, Pop, Jazz, Cabaret, and – perhaps most notably – Rock & Roll. They guys’ series of hits as both songwriters and record producers began with Big Mama Thornton’s Hound Dog in 1953. Hits that followed thereafter are Stand By Me, Jailhouse Rock, Love Potion # 9 and (You’re So Square) Baby, I Don’t Care and many, many more. Jerry and Mike were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Smokey Joe’s Café: The Songs of Leiber and Stoller opened in 1995 and became the longest-running musical revue in Broadway history. In 2009 they published their autobiography, Hound Dog.
